Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Nuceiva are all neuromodulators or neurotoxins used for cosmetic and medical purposes. 2. Dysport (AbobotulinumtoxinA): Dysport is another neurotoxin used for cosmetic purposes. It is made by Ipsen and, like Botox, is also approved for treating frown lines and other facial wrinkles. Dysport is reported to have a slightly faster onset of action compared to Botox, meaning that some patients may notice results sooner.
3. Xeomin (IncobotulinumtoxinA): Xeomin is a neurotoxin manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals. It is similar to Botox and Dysport in its cosmetic applications, but what sets it apart is that it contains only the active molecule (botulinum toxin type A) without any additional proteins. Some people believe that using a “naked” neurotoxin may reduce the risk of developing resistance to the product over time.
4. Nuceiva (PrabotulinumtoxinA): Nuceiva is a newer addition to the market. It is also known as Jeuveau and is manufactured by Evolus. Like the other neurotoxins, Nuceiva is used for cosmetic purposes to treat frown lines. It gained popularity for its “Newtox” marketing campaign, positioning itself as an alternative to Botox.
